Tenuta delle Terre Nere was established 30 years ago by Marco de Garcia and his brother on exceptional sites. Located on the northern slopes of the Mount Etna, between the village of Solicchiata and the town of Randazzo, the area is historically recognized as the very finest of the entire appellation for Nerello Mascalese. The 27 hectars of local varieties have been cultivated organically from the very beginning in 2002, at a very low yield. Most of the vines are between 50 and 100 years old. Once best known for introducing Americans to great Italian wines as an importer, Marco de Garcia has also become, over the years, a reference for the Etna DOC.
