Description

Castel Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2018

by Società Agricola Roberto Mazzi e Figli is a bold and complex red wine crafted from a blend of traditional Veneto grapes, primarily Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara. This Amarone offers rich and intense tasting notes of dark fruit, including black cherry, plum, and dried figs, complemented by layers of spice, tobacco, and a hint of chocolate. The wine undergoes the traditional appassimento process, where the grapes are dried before fermentation, concentrating the flavors and sugars. Aged for 24 months in oak barrels, it boasts a full-bodied structure with velvety tannins and a long, warming finish. Perfectly paired with hearty dishes like braised meats, game, and rich cheeses, Castel Amarone embodies the craftsmanship and tradition of the Valpolicella region. Roberto Mazzi e Figli, a family-run estate, is known for producing wines that express the unique terroir of the Classico zone, with this Amarone standing out as a fine example of their expertise.

The Story
expand_more
The Mazzi family winery is a place where wine comes to life, ages, and then is tasted to be enjoyed by everyone. We are passionate and committed so that each bottle we produce bears witness to its origin and the love we put into it. Located near Negrar, in Verona, this area is well-known for the production of Valpolicella and Amarone wines, thanks to its ideal characteristics for growing vines. It all began back in 1900 when the Mazzi family started a wine bottling business. The winery, then known as ‘Sanperetto’ as a tribute to the village in which it was located, has since produced renowned wines.
