Description

2010 Barbaresco Vanotu Riserva DOCG

by Pelissero is a regal showcase of 100% Nebbiolo, drawn from a top-tier cru in the heart of the Langhe hills. The aromatic profile unfolds with layered intensity—dried rose, tar, wild strawberries, and crushed cherries entwined with notes of sous-bois, licorice, and sweet spice. On the palate, it reveals a profound balance of power and elegance: layers of red fruit compote, truffle, and subtle sandalwood glide over ultra-fine, silk-like tannins, while vibrant acidity and earthy minerality carry the wine through a persistent finish of cocoa and fragrant cherry pit. This Riserva has spent approximately 30 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by extended bottle aging, allowing its structure to soften and develop remarkable depth. It pairs exquisitely with braised beef, wild mushroom risotto, truffle-laced dishes, or well-aged Alpine cheeses. Pelissero, a family estate rooted in tradition yet guided by sustainable innovation, crafts the Vanotu Riserva to reflect Nebbiolo’s majestic potential, offering a wine of complexity, grace, and lasting presence.

The Story
expand_more
The Pelissero family has been cultivating vineyards in Treiso, in the heart of the Barbaresco DOCG appellation (Piedmont), for three generations. Many gradual changes have been performed by the successive generation, but the philosophy remain constant: continuous improvement in the vineyard and in the cellar to ensure the same high quality of the wines every year, passion, commitment and innovation. Today, the estate owns and manages 42 ha of indigenous vines in a completely sustainable way. Thanks to oenologist Giorgio Pelissero, at the helm of the winery, Pelissero has grown to a reference brand for the Barbaresco.
