The Bourgoin Cognac family estate is located in Saint Saturnin between Cognac and Angoulême. Within the 90 hectares of vineyard Frédéric Bourgoin produces atypical cognacs.
Since 1930 the estate bears the name Bourgoin where the ancestors of Frédéric, also winegrowers, succeeded each other.

Today Bourgoin Cognac is a global vision of the winegrower's work. From the land and the grapes, to the know-how up to the finished product and the transmission. Frédéric explains to us that his "[...] ambition is to dust off the image of cognac in order to help French consumers rediscover it". He also claims to be a “terroirist winegrower”.
To do this, he cultivates the grapes, vinifies, distills and ages the eaux-de-vie on site.
His approach goes further. The cognac is made without blending, without filtration, without coloring or added sugar. It is bottled by hand, by vintage, by parcel and by barrel. This is how Frédéric puts " nature and people at the heart of the cognac production process" .

Cognac Bourgoin Double-Lie 70cl 2010
Bourgoin produces this 2010 Cognac Bourgoin Double Lies 70cl, a fortified wine from Cognac with grapes from 2010 and has an alcohol content of 45%.
DOUBLE-LIE is distilled with the double of lees usually contained in the vin de chauffe. This cognac contains 200 mg/L of esters. That is three times more than the rate obtained with traditional distillation on lees. It is the Maillard reaction between the lees and the copper in the still during the cooking of the wine for heating that allows this exceptional extraction of esters. This unprecedented technique gives DOUBLE-LIE an incomparable aromatic intensity.

This cognac is served in numerous micheline star restaruants across france, most nobably in one of the CB Teams favourite bistros in paris; Bistrot Paul Bert

Food Pairings: Works great as an after-dinner drink that pairs beautifully with desserts, especially high-quality dark chocolate

Tasting notes: Packing plenty of overripe fruit with apples, orchard fruit, and more tropical wafts of passion fruit and mango. Pungent oak and earthy leather bring a bold finish, with spicy notes of toasted wood and cigar box.
